Cleanliness Drive in Slum Area at Delhi by students of JRE Group of Institutions, Greater Noida

09th January, 2014: ‘SAMANVAYA’- a Social Responsibility Committee of JRE in collaboration with Educomp Foundation participated in a Cleanliness & Awareness Drive. The students of JRE School of Management joined hands with EPS (Environment Protection Society) from North-East region and NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), for initiating the cleanliness drive. The event started in the morning near the slum area of Gole Market in New Delhi. With the New Year resolution of making a healthy environment, the whole area was cleaned. But, soon it was realized that the issue was not the waste removal but it was the lack of awareness amongst the people about degradable and non-degradable wastes.
So, the committee took a pledge to spread awareness in the area through street plays and providing knowledge about different waste material. It was also observed that there were very few litter boxes installed in the area. The SAMANVAYA team raised this issue and it was committed by Director, NDMC that soon there will be ample litter boxes installed for waste disposal. The drive was also covered by National News channels.
