September 15,2013: Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshwariah is still a role model to millions worldwide for his notable contribution to Engineering. In addition to his knighthood, he was also honoured with India’s highest honour “Bhata Ratna” in 1955, and is internationally recognized for his genius in harnessing water resources. He was responsible for the successful design and construction of several river dams, bridges and implementing irrigation and drinking water schemes all over India.
On 15th September, he was fondly remembered on his birthday by the teachers and students of JRE School of Engineering who were also celebrating “Engineer’s Day”. The Phoenix Club took the initiative to celebrate this day and opened the event with the Lightening of the Lamp by Heads of all branches of the Engineering Department
The anchors, Tarun Vishal and Prabhjeet expressed the importance of the event and reminded the audience of the milestones achieved by Sir Vishveshwariah. Members of Phoenix club, Er. Pallavi Riyal and Er. Sajel Saxena expressed their feelings about the occasion and motivated the engineers with an energetic interaction. Dr. A.K. Taneja, Head of the Mathematics Department addressed the audience throwing light on the relevance of Engineers Day. Prof. Gaurav Sinha, Prof. Sanjeev Pippal, and Prof. Yudhishthir Pandey were called upon to share their views on the event and highlight the achievements of their respective branches, and Mr. Balak Ram and Ms. Shraddha Parganiha enlivened the students through their inspiring words.
The event gave the students an opportunity to showcase their talents by setting up an exhibition on various projects and models developed by them. The students delivered small informative presentations on their respective projects.
